The Parker 65, introduced in 1967, was a response to the demand for a pen with an open, rather than a hooded nib, as in the Parker 51 and 61.  The 65 Consort was discontinued in 1972. 

The open nib allows for some degree of flexibility, giving a 'soft' feel and is described, by Parker, as semi-flexible.  The hooded 61 nib precludes this option.  The Parker 65 open nib, made from 14Ct Gold, is also a very handsome affair. 

The Parker 65 Consort, this pen, features a very attractive cap that held twice the gold of the Insignia in an intricate 'brick' or grid design with deep cut lines.  The cap is imprinted as '1/5 12 Ct. R. Gold', meaning that it is 1/5th, by weight gold, a value for the gold alone, of about £25 at today's prices. 

This pen is an excellent example, it is in immaculate condition throughout and appears to be uninked.  There isn't a lot more to say with respect to condition, the pen is as it was when it was first sold .

 A cartridge/converter pen, it has been fitted with a good quality modern ink converter and will be supplied with a new ink cartridge so it is ready to write in either configuration.

The pen is housed in the original box along with the instruction leaflet, both similarly pristine. 

The Parker 65 is a very distinctive, eye-catching pen.  It has the same ink delivery system and ink flow as the Parker 51 and 61 pens but also allows for more character to be added to the writing as the nib is not constricted by the hooded arrangement.  It is a high quality pen that would make a first class daily writer.
