The Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth 4.0 unlocks the standard EOBD/OBD2 diagnostic systems of a vehicle. The exact availability of these features also depends on the connected diagnostic software.

• Read and clear fault codes: Access to the engine management system (ECU) for identifying Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) and turning off the MIL (Check Engine Light).
• Live data monitoring: Real-time retrieval of PID data, such as engine speed, current coolant temperature, lambda sensor values, and engine load.
• Freeze frame data viewing: Reading the recorded vehicle parameters at the exact moment a specific emission-related fault code was stored.
• Vehicle coding: Suitable for sending long instruction sequences to activate or deactivate hidden vehicle functions (requires specific coding apps such as BimmerCode).

Special features and capabilities

The hardware of this interface includes specific power and communication features that make it suitable for permanent or frequent use.

• Auto-Sleep mode: The interface automatically switches to a sleep mode 30 minutes after the vehicle is turned off, reducing power consumption to approximately 3mA.
• Auto-Wake function: The module detects an increase in voltage level (when starting the engine) or communication via the OBD port and automatically wakes from sleep mode without manual intervention.
• Bluetooth Dual Mode: Supports both the traditional Bluetooth SPP standard for older or serial connections, and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for seamless integration.
• Full AT command integration: Supports the extensive ELM327 AT instruction set for complex serial commands and high-speed communication via third-party applications.

Supported protocols

This diagnostic interface is designed for compatibility with the standardized network protocols of modern vehicles.

• ISO 15765-4 (CAN): The standard protocol for most modern vehicles (from 2008 onwards), required for communication over the Controller Area Network at various baud rates (250/500 Kbaud).
• ISO 9141-2: Used in European and Asian vehicles produced before the general introduction of the CAN system.
• ISO 14230-4 (KWP2000): A serial communication protocol widely used by European manufacturers in the early 2000s.
• SAE J1850 (PWM/VPW): Older protocols mainly used in the American market by manufacturers such as Ford and General Motors.

• BimmerCode (iOS / Android): Well suited for reading modules and coding various comfort and lighting settings for BMW and Mini models.
• BimmerLink (iOS / Android): Focused on advanced diagnostics, fault code clearing, and valve opening for BMW and Mini vehicles.
• Torque Pro (Android): Popular application for extensive live data dashboards, performance measurements, and general OBD2 diagnostics.
• Car Scanner ELM OBD2 (iOS / Android): Universal tool with extensive support for sensor data, fault codes, and vehicle-specific profiles.
• FORScan Lite (iOS / Android): Specifically focused on diagnosing modules within Ford, Mazda, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles via the standard and MS-CAN networks (if supported by the vehicle).

Compatible operating systems

The interface can establish a connection with various platforms via the integrated Bluetooth module.

• iOS (Apple): Compatible via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). No system pairing needed; the connection is established directly from the diagnostic application.
• Android: Full support via Bluetooth Classic or BLE depending on the app's requirements. Minimum Android 4.4 or newer recommended.
• Windows: Compatible with Windows devices with Bluetooth 4.0 or higher via serial port emulation (COM port assignment).
