Notre-Dame de Paris (1831), known in English as The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, is Victor Hugo’s sweeping Gothic novel set in 15th-century Paris, centered around the tragic fates of Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer of Notre-Dame Cathedral, and Esmeralda, a beautiful and kind-hearted gypsy dancer.
