What does a settling tank do?

Settling tanks are used to clarify honey. The honey clarification is a process that allows for the natural separation of impurities and air bubbles after honey has been extracted. The honey gains clarity, which is particularly important both when selling honey and even in the production of mead. Clarification is also known to improve the overall taste of the honey!

This Lyson Stainless Steel 13gal Honey Tank is a single walled, unheated stainless steel tank with cover. Holds about 50L or 13 gallons of liquid, which equals about 150 lb of honey. The tank measures 17" tall and 16" in diameter. It also features a stainless steel honey gate (1.5", 6/4) and handles for easy transport. There are two optional additions available to upgrade the tank to fit your needs, a Lyson Bottling Valve (flange)and a sieve that fits this tank specifically.

• Dimensions: 17in tall and 16in in diameter.
• 1.5" Honey Gate
• For additions with Sanitary fittings, use a Sanitary 1.5 6/4 Adapter to connect a ball valve, hose, or other device that uses a 1.5" tri-clamp fitting.

Options:

• Lyson dripless bottling valve for easy and controlled honey bottling. 
• Stainless steel sieve which drops inside the tank and hangs a few inches below the top of the tank. It is a relatively fine sieve at 25 wires per inch.
