Aluminiumlegierte UHC-Stähle besitzen mit höherfesten Stählen vergleichbare mechanische Eigenschaften bei einer in Abhängigkeit des Aluminiumgehalts bis zu 15 % geringeren Dichte. Diese Eigenschaftskombination prädestiniert legierte UHC-Stähle für den Einsatz in bewegten Motorenkomponenten. Eine weitreichende Substitution bisher verwendeter Stähle in der industriellen Praxis setzt eine produktive Zerspanung voraus.
