Contains the texts of 110 songs by Dvorák and to the five Evening Songs of Bedrich Smetana. All Dvorák's texts are in Czech except for his Vier Lieder (Four Songs), op. 82. These four songs' texts were originally set in German, and that was the language preferred by Dvorák for these particular songs. 23 of the texts are for duets, rather than for solo voice. They include Moravské dvojzpevy (Moravian Duets), op. 20, and op. 38; and Two duets without opus number.

David Adams is Professor of Voice and Head of the Performance Studies Division at the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music, where he has been a faculty member since 1980. He has sung as lyric tenor in opera and concert in Italy, Austria, Germany, Luxembourg, and the United States. He has served on the faculty of the Aspen Music School, and currently teaches at and is co-artistic director of the Opera Theater and Music Festival of Lucca (Italy). He is author of A Handbook of Diction for Singers published by Oxford University Press.
