Coffee lies at the heart of the Burundian economy, accounting for over 30% of the countries exports. Burundi is a very small, very poor and very land-locked country. Transport is difficult and infrastructure is still recovering from the 12 year civil war that ended in 2005. Over-all the nation is in a state of very very slow repair but is stable and has taken significant steps to create a long term viable government in a difficult land. We look forward to what the future holds for Burundian coffee farmers, Bourbon grows without burden and quality is on the rise with better methods of harvesting and processing.
