“The Sofia Beanie” is an intermediate-level project that will take your knitting skills to the next level. The pattern involves a delightful mix of techniques, including knit, purl, cable knitting, increase and decrease stitches, and the art of joining and knitting in the round. The combination of these techniques creates a beautifully textured beanie that’s as much a joy to create as it is to wear.

NEEDLE SIZES

For this project, you’ll need a set of US 13 / 9mm 16” circular needles and US 15 / 10mm 16” circular needles. To complete the project, you’ll also require US 15 / 10mm double-pointed needles (DPNs). These needle sizes provide the perfect canvas for working with super bulky yarn, ensuring that your finished beanie is not only cozy but also quick to knit.

SUGGESTED YARN

The pattern recommends using Woolstok North from Blue Sky Fiber or any other super bulky yarn. This choice of yarn perfectly complements the design, adding to the beanie’s warmth and luxurious texture. However, feel free to explore other super bulky yarn options that match the specified gauge.

YARN REQUIREMENTS

To make the beanie as suggested in the pattern you will need 91 yards / 83 m; 4.5 oz / 127 g).

GAUGE

4” x 4” / 10cm x 10cm = 12 sts x 11 rnds (in cable pattern st and using US 15 / 10 mm needles, after blocking).
