For sale here is a Paul H. Young Midge bamboo fly rod - 6'3" 2/2 4-5wt with a marked weight of 1 3/4 oz. Serial no. 4052 made in July 1962. The rod is in excellent++ original condition. All sections are full length and straight. The rod has the richly mottle-flamed cane Young rods are known for. Handsome copper-colored wraps. Blued guides. The varnish remains in excellent condition with only very light wear. Garrison-style hook-keeper. The script, in Jack Young's handwriting, remains as clean and bold as the day it was written. It reads,

On the second tip between the first and second guides, there is an odd black mark made by the same pen used in the script (see pictures). This likely a mistake that was overlooked in the finishing process. The petite Ritz/Garrison-style grip is 4 3/4" in length with only the lightest of soiling. Dual black aluminum sliding ring reel seat over a mortised cork spacer. The "featherweight" black aluminum ferrules are size 12/64 with a good fit. Actual weight is 1.86 oz. The action is an authoritative and parabolic medium-fast that seems well suited for a 4 or 5 weight line depending on personal preference. Includes original satin bag in excellent condition.
