Anthemis nobilis

There are two main chamomiles used in aromatherapy, Roman (Anthemis nobilis) and German (Matricaria chamomilla/recutita). Both are of high quality and interchangeable in blends. Chamomile is considered one of the safest and most gentle of the essential oils and is subsequently often used in applications designed for babies, small children and sensitive skin. Tinderbox supplies the Roman essential oil, due to the inhibitive price of the German variety for many people.

Aroma: Middle Note

Perfume: Refreshing, sweet and herbaceous with apple-like notes.

Blends well with: bergamot, clary sage, lavender, geranium, jasmine, tea tree, grapefruit, rose, lemon and ylang ylang.

Indications: Nerve tonic, sedative, analgesic, (quells pain) antiseptic, anti-allergenic, anti- inflammatory, antispasmodic (reduces cramps), antiviral, digestive, carminative, (calms upset stomach) diuretic, (induces urination) hepatic, (liver tonic).
