For sale here is a wonderful example of a Julius Vom Hofe german silver / ebonite fly reel with squared raised pillars. Size 2 (diameter 2 5/8" pillar to pillar or 2 1/4" without pillars). 7/8" pillar length. Weight 5 1/8". The reel is in excellent overall condition.

Made for "J Dukehart & Co. Baltimore" (stamp on the backplate reads "J.D. & Co. - Balte"). The dished head plate adds a nice flair as does the knurled crank screw and slightly raised rim. The tailplate side also has a knurled screw off end cap with an incised band at the outer edge of the ebonite plate. The German silver foot is full length and there is a very slight bend in it can be easily straightened (I can provide a competent reelsmith to do such simple tasks such as this).
