It is also used in cosmetics, including facial masks, creams, toners, and essences, for whitening.

Its whitening effect is really effective.

This acid blocks proteases from hydrolyzing peptide bonds. Thus, it inhibits the activity of inflammatory proteases. Tranexamic acid, unlike typical whitening cosmetics, is non-irritant, stable, and resistant to alkalis and acids. It also effectively inhibits melanocyte activity and inactive melanin.

It is gentle and does not cause irritation. The acid itself is corrosive.
