Drawing inspiration from Aoshima, the Type 10 has been a staple in the Japan Ground Self Defense Force since its mass production began in 2011. It marks a significant improvement over the Type 90, with a notably reduced vehicle weight. Unlike the Type 90, which requires disassembly and transportation on two separate trailers, the Type 10, similar to the Type 74, can be transported on a single trailer. It's equipped with cutting-edge IT-based communication equipment and a C4I network system, enabling real-time data sharing between squadrons, the command center, and air units. The introduction of modular armor allows for easy loading and interchangeability in blocks, simplifying maintenance on the battlefield.
