Note / Strength of Aroma: This Frankincense Essential Oil has a warm and spicy, woody balsamic aroma that differs from Somalian/Middle Eastern Frankincense. Its strong scent is distinct and lacks the smoky overtones of the Carterii type. The resin is known as olibanum, which comes from the Arabic al-luban, meaning "that which results from milking," referring to the milky sap. It is used as incense and has been traded for over 5,000 years. It was widely utilized in ancient Egypt and was one of the ingredients in the Talmud's holy oil. Frankincense was brought back to Europe by Frankish Crusaders (Frankincense), and the oil is now highly valued in the perfumery industry and widely employed in the production of skin-care products.
