Or the Mutiny of the Hispaniola
A coming-of-age adventure novel narrating a tale of buc-caneers, sea battles and buried gold. The story had an enormous in-fluence on popular perceptions of pirates including treasure maps marked with an “X”, schooners, tropical islands, and one legged seamen baring parrots on their shoulders.
First published in 1881-82 as a series in Young Folks mag-azine, this edition is derived from the book published in 1915 with 4 color illustrations, 35 black & white illustrations, and numerous page decorations by Louis Rhead. As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.
