Title: Mills Plains 1832

As a landscape painter, I am deeply intrigued by the significance of certain places and the impact of non-Indigenous intervention on the natural landscape, in relation to indigenous people. Through my art, I aim to shed light on the diverse ways in which we experience our environment, ultimately fostering a renewed appreciation and respect for the land and its future.

My artwork is inspired by John Glovers 1832 painting “A corroboree of natives in Mills Plains” and features blurred sections of the landscape, symbolizing our disregard for the history and culture of Indigenous people.

The word "HOPE" acts as a focal point, a vignette, drawing attention to the importance of acknowledging the past and taking action towards a better future. Without hope, progress is impossible to establish and maintaining respectful relationships.
