Il filtro separatore di sabbia idrociclone, viene utilizzato per acque con una notevole quantità di sabbia in sospensione, ad esempio provenienti da pozzi, laghi e fiumi.
La separazione tra acqua e particelle pesanti avviene attraverso un moto vorticoso ad andamento centrifugo generato dall'entrata tangenziale dell'acqua.
Per differenza di peso specifico la sabbia verrà accumulata al centro del cono nell'apposito recipiente mentre l'acqua verrà fuori dall'uscita superiore.
Per salvaguardare il filtro dall'usura della sabbia, alla base del cono vi è una riduzione facilmente sostituibile durante le operazioni ordinarie di manutenzione.
