Black Rainbows is the years-in-the-making project from Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae.

This 10-track album is wide-ranging in its themes and sonic palette. Inspired by the objects and artworks collected by Theaster Gates at the Stony Island Arts Bank in Chicago, Black Rainbows takes us from the rock hewn churches of Ethiopia, to the journeys of Black Pioneers Westward, from Miss New York Transit 1957, to how the sunset appears from Harriet Jacobs' loophole. It explores Black femininity, Spell Work, Inner Space/Outer Space, time collapse and ancestors, the erasure of Black childhood and music as a vessel for transcendence.

The album Black Rainbows is set for release September 15 via Thirty Tigers/Cooking Vinyl Australia.
