In 1928, Frank Lloyd Wright began creating drawings for the San Marcos in the Desert Hotel that was to be located in Chandler, AZ. The project was never completed due to the 1929 stock market crash, but the building design and the interior renderings contain a variety of interesting furniture and decorative features. The composition of this globe stand is adapted from the 60 degree angled legs and the hexagonal top of a small accent table designed for the Dining Pavilion which was to be bordered by garden terraces of the San Marcos in the Desert Hotel. The San Marcos desktop globe features a 12" antique ocean globe with political map styling's and raised relief. Mounted on a walnut finish wood stand with full swing meridian in cooperation with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. Overall size is approximately 22"h x 18"w x 22"d.
