DESCRIPTION:

This striking piece of Navajo artistry showcases the beauty of traditional Native American silversmithing. Handcrafted by Navajo artist Samuel Yellowhair, this necklace is made from solid sterling silver (.925) and genuine turquoise. The large Naja pendant features a teardrop-shaped turquoise stone with a blend of blue and green hues and natural matrix, set in a hand-cut bezel and framed with twisted silver rope work. It is accented with intricate stamp work and silver bead details for a bold, elegant finish.

The necklace is hand-strung with 8 mm sterling silver beads, oxidized for a classic Southwestern style. Each end is completed with sterling silver cones and a secure hook clasp. The pendant is stamped and hallmarked by the artist, ensuring authenticity.

Turquoise is the birthstone of December. It is believed that turquoise tends to bring good fortune, strength and helps overcome illness. Turquoise got its name from the Levantine traders called Turks who brought the stone to Europe from Persia via Turkey centuries ago. Native Americans have prized turquoise since the time of the Aztecs, who mined it in New Mexico. The natural variations that occur in turquoise are part of its appeal and beauty.
