The figure shows Metradon, a six-winged angel bearing a long sword. Around his left ankle, a serpent curls upwards. Seraphim are heavenly or celestial beings whose name means burning ones. Tradition places Seraphim in the highest rank in the Christian angelic hierarchy and the number of wings indicates that the purification must go through the six avenues of consciousness in the body.
