Description:
Janacek's masterpiece opera by Simone Young] Janacek's last opera, "From the House of the Dead," directed by Castorf, became a premiere at the Bavarian State Opera in May 2018. The unique worldview of skeletal costumes, screens, and a Coke advertisement standing for some reason on the revolving stage was controversial at the time of the performance, but it is an excellent and intuitive visualization of the somewhat difficult and disturbing atmosphere of the work. Simone Young's conducting is dynamic and supple, and the music, which Janacek describes as dark and violent but also beautiful, is developed on a large scale. This product uses Japanese subtitles newly created by going back to the Czech script and examining it. The setting is a Siberian prison. Aleksandr, a new political prisoner, is noticed by the warden because of his appearance and pride, and is subjected to terrible treatment as soon as he enters the prison. This is the story of the prisoners from his point of view, Firka, known as Luka, Sklatov, who murdered his lover who had a change of heart, and Aliyeya, a Tatar boy. Eventually, Aleksandr faces the day of his release from prison, but the twists and turns of their fates are mysteriously intertwined. Naxos Japan
