Description:

This album features songs written by 24 female composers from the Romantic period to the present day. In 2019, the bicentennial of Clara Schumann's birth, German pianist Benjamin Mead, who has British and Polish ancestry, began researching her work, which led to the discovery of unknown works by women whose names are virtually unknown. Together with relatively well-known songs by Rebecca Clark, Alma Mahler, and Amy Beach, this album was born. Swiss soprano Heinzen sang along with Meade at the piano in 24 songs from a woman's point of view, including songs about fresh spring feelings, fears of death, and anxious forebodings. The two have been active as a duo since winning the first prize at the Rhine-Ruhr Lieder Duo Competition. Naxos Japan
