  • ABS activation: When a wheel lockup is detected by the ABS system, the electronic control unit (ECU) sends an electrical signal to the solenoid in the valve assembly.
    
  • Pressure modulation: Upon receiving the signal, the solenoid opens the valve. This allows controlled release or modulation of hydraulic pressure to the affected wheel. 
    
  • Pressure restoration: Once the wheel lockup threat has subsided, the ECU signals the solenoid to close the valve again. This restores full pressure to the wheel brake, allowing it to function normally.
    
  • Normal braking: During normal braking without wheel lockup, the valve assembly remains closed (NC). This allows for full hydraulic pressure to be delivered to the wheel brakes, enabling them to function normally.
