Description:

Stewart Copeland, drummer for the Police and one of rock's leading drum legends whose work spans a wide range of genres from film, opera and ballet music to chamber and world music, is currently working on a new project. The new album, "Police Deranged for Orchestra," is a collection of classic Police songs arranged for full orchestra. No need to explain anymore. Stewart Copeland, drummer for the Police, is one of rock's leading drum legends, active in a wide range of genres from film music to opera and ballet music, chamber music and world music. In a career spanning more than 30 years, he has sold more than 60 million albums and won numerous music awards, including seven Grammy Awards. He is currently working on a new project. He is currently working on a new project: "Police Deranged for Orchestra," an arrangement of classic Police songs for full orchestra. The project, which has been in the works since 2021, grew out of a concert tour that included full orchestral versions of some of the Police's biggest hits, including "Roxanne," "Don't Stand Too Close To Me," and "Message In A Bottle," as well as selected works by Stewart Copeland This album is the result of a concert tour featuring orchestral and rock ensembles performing selections from Stewart Copeland's oeuvre. The album features Stewart on drums and percussion, Armand Sabal Lecco (Paul Simon) on bass, Rusty Anderson (Paul McCartney) on guitar, and vocalists Amy Keys, Carmel The full orchestra, under the direction of Edwin Outwater, brings the songs of the Police to life with fresh arrangements. The album was produced by Craig Stuart Garfinkle and Edwin Outwater. The genesis of this work is somewhat different from Copeland's previous works. In his own words, "The Police's musical 'mayhem' began as a film score based on Copland's Super 8mm footage of the Police's trajectory. The film makes capricious demands on the music, so I had to distort the music a bit to fit the scenes in the film, and by the time I was done with the scalpel, there was a new frenzy inspired by the Police's music," he continues. The multi-tracking of the original songs, and through the live performance, revealed lost guitar solos, bass lines, and vocal improvisations that were too cool to leave ambiguous..." Those discoveries led to this performance: Sting's songs, Andy's inventions, and my inelegance: they embarked on a wild adventure with the orchestra and a unique group of musicians from around the world, adapting the Police's most beloved hits from across generations." A new Police soundscape is the result of Stewart Copeland's unusual collaboration. The result is one to watch.
