The Bilia Table Lamp is a design table lamp first conceived by Gio Ponti in 1932, built around a simple but deliberate idea. A sphere rests on a cone, balanced in a way that feels slightly unexpected yet completely resolved. Within the range, this is the full-sized version, offering a more grounded presence compared to the smaller Mini, while keeping the same clarity of form.
The diffuser is made from satin-finish blown glass, which softens the light and spreads it evenly without glare. It sits on a metal base, giving a quiet contrast without drawing too much attention. The detailing is restrained, from the transparent cable through to the integrated dimmer, so the focus stays on the relationship between the two shapes rather than added decoration.
It tends to work well on a side table or console where you want a steady, ambient light rather than anything too directional. The dimmer gives you a bit of control in the evening, which is useful in practice. It’s a piece people often recognise once they’ve lived with it for a while, not because it tries to stand out, but because it just settles into the space properly.
