Pat Metheny made his debut as a leader in 1975 with "Bright Size Life," recorded with Jaco Pastorius and Bob Moses, and was joined by Lyle Mays from Metheny's second album "Water Colors" in 1977, later forming the Pat Metheny Group. The following year, 1978, the group released its first album, "Pat Metheny Group," which bore the group's name in the album title. The very rare live archive from 1978, when the Pat Metheny Group was first formed, is finally available! This album is a complete recording of the concert held in Bremen, Germany on March 13, 1978, soon after the Pat Metheny Group was launched. In addition to the golden duo of Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays, Danny Gottlieb on drums, who had participated with Lyle Mays since "Water Colors," and Mark Egan on bass, the band performed songs from "Pat Metheny Group," which had just been released at the time.
