The LP features rare photographs of jazzmen from the golden age of jazz, left behind by white photographer William Claxton, on the cover. The album cover photo shows Art Pepper walking up a hill near his home in Los Angeles in 1956. The original release was "Meets TheRhythm Section" (Contemporary Records C-3532), a popular disc he left on the Contemporary label in 1957.
