Piano works by Galina Ustvolskaya, beloved of Shostakovich Galina Ustvolskaya (1919-2006) was born in Petrograd (later St. Petersburg) in 1919. She studied under Shostakovich at the Leningrad Conservatory. Shostakovich sent Ustvolskaya his unfinished works, and he valued her comments on them. She also quoted themes she had composed in those works, indicating that he had great expectations of and trust in Ustvolskaya. However, she herself was not influenced by Shostakovich, but rather by her own worldview, to the extent that she herself said, "There is no relationship or connection between my music and the music of other composers. This tendency became especially strong in his later years. Although the composer was rarely demonstrated during the Soviet era, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, his music began to be featured in concerts.Born in 1988 in Ukraine, pianist Antony Balishevsky studied at the National Tchaikovsky Memorial Conservatory of Ukraine. He studied under Valery Kozlov and won the first prize at the "Artur Rubinstein International Piano Competition" in 2014. Since then, she has been active both in Japan and abroad. Tokyo M-Plus
